A new ship for Lake Walen

The Walensee shipping company is delighted to announce that it will be welcoming a new member to its fleet from the 2024 season. The ship "MS Schwyz", which was recently acquired from Lake Zug, will be an exciting addition for passengers and crew on Lake Walen.

The MS Schwyz: here still on Lake Zug, soon in service on Lake Walen.

With the acquisition of the "MS Schwyz" (built in 1997), Schiffsbetrieb Walensee AG will be adding a modern and versatile ship to its fleet. The ship will be the youngest member of the fleet and will be used both as an event ship and as a cruise ship. The many possibilities offered by the "MS Schwyz" will help to enrich the experience on Lake Walen for locals and tourists alike.

The "MS Schwyz" has its own galley, which allows for an expanded culinary offering on Lake Walen. Passengers can look forward to a wider selection of culinary delights while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the lake and the surrounding landscape.

Oliver Ebert (Vice Chairman of Zugersee Schifffahrt) and Philipp Hofmann (Managing Director of Zugersee Schifffahrt) with the Board of Directors of Schiffsbetrieb Walensee AG (Chairman Dieter von Ziegler, Chairman Stefan Maurhofer and CEO Daniel Grünenfelder).

A special highlight awaits the public next November: the spectacular transfer of the ship from Zug to Weesen. This logistically challenging undertaking will undoubtedly attract a lot of attention!

Schiffsbetrieb Walensee AG is looking forward to the upcoming addition to the fleet with great enthusiasm. The entire Board of Directors is certain: "The acquisition of the "MS Schwyz" and its planned commissioning in the 2024 season will take the offer and experience on Lake Walen to a new level."

Watch out!

From December 15, 2024, the new cross-course timetable Unterterzen - Au - Quinten - Murg West will apply. The longitudinal course ships will not operate again until March 29, 2025.
